Bout’ To Blow Your Damn Mind

Holy shit you guys. Yesterday I discovered something that just may end up changing my life. Chocolate pudding, made with avocado. Yes, that’s right – AVOCADO.

I hope you’re not the type of person who thinks eating avocados will make you fat. That is so 1995. Avocados have so many health benefits, and while they do contain fat, it is a healthy fat. The fat found in avocados, AKA the “butter pear”, is monounsaturated — the “good” kind that actually lowers cholesterol levels. In fact, the U.S. government recently revised its official nutrition guidelines to urge Americans to eat more avocados.

I found this recipe on a blogger friend’s, blog…check her out right here.

  • 2 ripe avocados peeled and pit removed
  • 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 cup Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • raspberries for garnish
  • chocolate curls for garnish (I used 85 % cacao)

Add ingredients to blender and chill for 30 minutes. How simple is that?!

I’ve heard of substituting avocados in for certain ingredients while baking, but lets face it. I hate baking, and making this pudding is just so quick and so much simpler. I love any dessert that contains a healthy substitute, and I plan on making this my go-to-sweet-tooth-fixer.

  1. My friend eats something like this with her Paleo Lifestyle. She didn’t tell her husband what it was because he hates avacados. She giggled to herself while he devoured it. I guess I’m going to have to try it now! Thanks!

  2. Yum! Have you seen the chocolate chip cookie dip recipe made with chick peas, that’s floating around on Pinterest? It’s sooooo good and really eay to throw all the ingredients in a blender. I’ll have to try this one too! :)

  3. YES! YES! I made this mousse on Valentine’s Day, didn’t tell my bf what was in it, and when I told him it was avocado, his jar dropped. He said he NEVER would’ve guessed. It was decadent! Very very rich, I could only manage a few spoonfuls of the stuff. Yum!!
